I recently read a great post on This Mama Runs for Cupcakes. Sue posted an interview she did with her children all about having a mom who runs. I decided to sit my crew down and ask them the same questions! It was pretty funny to hear their perspectives. Cakers is my 9 year old daughter who once told me “I love everything about track except for the running and sprinting”. NoNos is my 7 year old son who runs like the wind. Bop is my 4 year old son who is sweet and sensitive and has yet to unleash his athletic ability. My 2 year old, Viv, repeated everything Bop said. Every. single. thing.

What does Mommy eat before a run?

Cakers: Salad

NoNo: Shakeology

Bop: Ramen Noodles

I normally eat a slice of toast with peanut butter before a run! The kids are usually asleep when I leave the house. Now how about a meal of salad, ramen noodles and Shakeology??

How far does Mommy run each day?

Cakers: 10 miles

NoNo: 4 miles

Bop: 100 miles

NoNo was spot on! I usually try to run between 3-4 miles.

Do you like going to the YMCA? Why?

Cakers: NO! Childwatch is boring

NoNo: Only if I can bring my Kindle

Bop: Yes! I want to play with dinos and horses

The older two have been to the Y with me precisely 1 time in the last 6 months. I usually go when they are at school!

What is Mommy’s favorite race?

Cakers: The Mini marathon

NoNo: The one with your friend in Noblesville.

Bop: Indiana race

This was a difficult question for me to answer. I think it would be the Monumental Half Marathon in 2013.

Why does Mommy run?

Cakers: So she can be fit

NoNo: Gets her energy out

Bop: Sometimes in the morning only mommies run.

NoNo gets it again! Mommy runs to get energy, stress, sadness, anxiety, background noise out. I run to experience peace, quiet, solitude.

Does having a mom who runs make you want to run?

Cakers: Yes

NoNo: Yes but I don’t know if I will.

Bop: Yes. I want to run around the block when I grow up.

I LOVE all of their answers. I hope they all love to run when they are adults.

What else does Mom do?

Cakers: Beachbody, eats healthy food.

NoNo: Exercises in the basement

Bop: Eats mommy food and drinks coffee

The life of a mom wrapped up in a few word! And laundry…lots and lots of laundry

What is your least favorite thing about having a mom who runs?

Cakers: Nothing

NoNo: When she’s gone

Bop: Nothing

Most of my running has no impact on the kids as I’m out and back before their sleepy heads are up asking for breakfast!

Do you think when you are 36 you will be a runner?

Cakers: Yes!

NoNo: Yes!

Bop: Yes!

This interview with the kids was so fun! To all of my mother runner friends, sit your babies down, ask them these questions and share!
