Did you know that June 3rd is National Running Day?? Yeah, neither did I. But today I’m linking up with hundreds of other runners to answer questions posed by Kristen over at Jonesin’ for a Run.
Why do you run?
I run because for a hundred reasons. I run to have moments of my day when I can breathe, dream, pray. I run to feel proud of my body. I run to model health to my family. I run so I can listen to my own music selection. I run to feel the endorphin rush. I run because sometimes there is nothing else to do.
How do you plan to celebrate National Running Day?
I laced up my Brooks at 6 am and ran a slow 2 miles. I’m not good at recovering from a running injury! I also plan to read through posts of all the women who are linking up for National Running Day.
How many miles have you run so far this year?
I don’t track how many miles I have run. But I am participating in the 100 Days of Miles Challenge. Thanks to an IT band “issue” I have been experiencing, I only have 26 days of miles so far this year. Mama needs to get on it!
What big events do you have on the race calendar so far this year?
My biggest goal for this year is to complete a sprint triathlon. It’s been on my fitness to do list for quite some time but 2015 it will be marked off!
Before I leave for a run you must have:
Foam rolled (at least that’s what my physical therapist would answer). But I must have my iPhone and headphones.
Do you have one favorite app to track your runs?
Nike + running app. I have found the GPS to be the most accurate.
Who is your favorite running partner?
I usually run by myself. I do enjoy an occasional run with friends but my early morning runs are my favorite alone time.
If you had to give someone one piece of advice about running what would it be?
Don’t think, just run. If I can become a runner, anyone can. You can read my running beginnings here.
Describe your relationship with running in one word:
So there it is! My first National Running Day interview in the books. Many many happy miles!
